My whole life, I’ve been called type A personality, and not always as a good thing. I really try to be chill, but I yam who I yam. What can I say? I love a good list. And to be the boss - ha!

Thankfully, Methylcobalamin B12 is not just for those lucky, relaxed type B folks.

As an essential vitamin for healthy red blood cells and producing energy, many people supplement to ensure they get enough methylcobalamin B12. Since I don’t eat much red meat these days, I realized that I probably needed more and started looking around. No matter your diet, most people benefit from regularly taking a little extra methylcobalamin. Some people abbreviate this as Vitamin B12 or just B12.

Nutricost has excellent reviews on Amazon for Methylcobalamin B12, so I had to check it out for my full review.

Pros

Great Price

There are a lot of vitamin B12 options out there, and I know price is often a deciding factor. Good news! Nutricost has an extremely affordable bottle – $14.95 for 240 servings. The cost breaks down to 6¢ per serving, which is one capsule per day.

One of the main reasons this is a really great deal is because this bottle of 240 servings will last approximately 8 months if you take the suggested dosage. That is less than twenty bucks for a long-lasting supply of vitamin B12.

Spoiler alert: I totally recommend this B12, so I wouldn’t shop around. However, if you do go looking at other options, be sure to check the serving size, amount of vitamin B12 in each serving, and amount of servings.

There are other B12 options out there that look less expensive, closer to $9 per bottle. Even though those bottles also offer a 1,000 mcg serving, they are not offering nearly as many servings as Nutricost - only 90-100 servings. While these other options appear to save money, in the long run they actually cost more.

Short term and long term, Nutricost has the best deal on B12.

Additionally, Nutricost offers B12 in different sizes and potencies - this bottle is 1,000 mcg, which is about half of what you need daily. You can also get a higher dose here. However, most people do get B12 in their food, things like eggs, and meat, so this lower dose of B12 is totally appropriate.

*Note: If you think you are deficient in B12, please consult your medical professional.

Targeted Formula

I am a big fan of single-ingredient formula capsules. I don’t want my supplements to get too complicated, and if certain ingredients are in more than a capsule, it can be easy to take more than a recommended dose accidentally. Also, single-ingredient capsules like this one tend to be more affordable.

This bottle of Nutricost B12 is a 1,000 mcg dose in a vegetarian capsule. That’s it. So simple and straightforward, just what you need.

Additional Certifications

Nutricost manufactures this non-GMO capsule in a GMP-certified facility. Not all brands follow GMP guidelines, but Nutricost does. This is a major plus because it indicates that the brand follows strict guidelines prioritizing consumer safety. GMP certifications minimize the risk of contamination, errors, and deviations in the manufacturing process.

Additionally, Nutricost B12 has been 3rd-party tested, which ensures purity and high quality.

Lastly, Nutricost is a major health and wellness company. I like the brand recognition - it makes it easy to pick a Nutricost product. They have several popular supplement lines, like a performance line, a women’s line, an organics line, and more. Nutricost Methylcobalamin B12 has thousands of high, 4.5-star reviews. So that is a huge green flag!

Cons

ONLY B12 - No Extras

Some people might prefer more of a ‘one-and-done’ supplement routine, a multivitamin that has a combination of multivitamins and supplements. The multivitamin route can be very convenient, offering a wider range of benefits.

Since this is a single-ingredient Methylcobalamin B12, it only targets the benefits of one Methylcobalamin.

5/5 Stars

B12 is an essential vitamin, and I’m glad I found this bottle by Nutricost. I love the price point and other options Nutricost offers for serving size and potency. While some people might prefer a blended vitamin capsule, I like the single-ingredient capsule. It helps me keep track of precisely what I’m taking each day.

Also, this bottle lasts a long time, sweetening the deal. That, paired with GMP certification and 3rd-party testing, makes this my top choice.

Why Supplement with Methylcobalamin B12?

Methylcobalamin B12 is essential and supports many functions in the body. Since it is mainly found in meats and animal products, vegetarians and vegans are likely to be deficient in Methylcobalamin B12. However, all health-conscious people can benefit from extra B12 supplementation.

Here are some potential benefits from Methylcobalamin B12:

Red Blood Cell Formation:

  • Methylcobalamin B12 is required to produce red blood cells in the bone marrow. It works with other B vitamins, such as folate, to ensure proper red blood cell formation and prevent anemia.

Energy Boost:

One of the signs of B12 deficiency is fatigue, but supplementing with B12 can help! Methylcobalamin B12 helps metabolize carbohydrates and fats, the body's primary energy sources. It helps convert food into glucose, the body's preferred energy source.

  • Mood Boost:

If you are deficient in B12, supplementation may improve your mood. Methylcobalamin B12 plays a role in synthesizing neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, essential for mood regulation. Adequate levels of B12 may contribute to better mental well-being.
